Many people know the Smart cars, but don't know the story. Originally the watch maker, Swatch had the idea of making a small 2 seater city car. The Smart ForTwo came to life in 1998, and was far ahead of it's time. It became a huge hit, so Smart decided to make more variants of the ForTwo, with a Coupe, Crossblade and a Convertible. The ForTwo is a fun and light 2 seater with an engine under the rear storage compartiment. To this day the Smart ForTwo is still for sale, but now we're at the 3rd generation.
The model we're looking at today is by Norev, in a white with Red Roof
Norev has made the following colour combinations on the ForTwo Convertible:
- White and black with black roof
- Blue and grey with black roof
- Matt grey and silver with red roof
- Yellow and black with black roof
These models have been for sale at big retailers which made these models very cheap, they can be picked up for as little as €20,-
My example came from www.kbmodelcars.com a dutch modelcar retailer selling all kinds of models form Bburago to Autoart and from Norev to Otto. Be sure to check them out when buying your next model.

Let's start this off.... The model is not too big and may look like a toy car, but that ain't true, this model is very heavy and made out of diecast with plastic materials. Let's start of at the front of this model. The grills aren't meshed, but I forgive Norev for it cause of the price point of this model. The detail on the middle grill is alright, the black and white colour combination is accurate to the real car and the smart emblem is a nice detailed plastic part. The foglights are mediocre, aswell as the indicators. The headlights are nice, featuring an LED line and a centre bulb, all covered by a black surrounded piece of clear plastic, good job!
For the side of the ForTwo there isn't too much detail. There is a little painted side indicator and a little air inlet for the engine. I like the black window outline and doorhandle, it gives the car a more stealth look. As far as shutlines go, they are perfect all round the model. On this model we can see the 16 inch black Y spoke rims, the wheels are good same for the tyres made out of a rubber like material. The front brake disc should've had more details. There isn't too much to say about the rear brake, other then that it's good. Notice the picture of the rear wheel where you can see the working suspension of this model in action.

Next is the rear of this model. The rear logo isn't metal etched but a printed on decal, it does look crisp. As far as the taillights go, they look allright, have some depth to it, but could be better like the headlights. Rear reflectors are just painted on and no plastic piece. Exhaust detail is good, the inside has been blacked out for a more realistic look. As far as underside detail goes, it's very very good for this price.

The interior, wow this is looking amazing. All buttons are created and detailed, the airvents look nice. The buttons for the airco are well detailed. The car has a carpeted inside which always gives a model added realism. I'll just let you enjoy the pictures.
The tailgate opens downwards to reveal, well nothing. But... there is something not a lot of you know. You can lift the rear floor to reveal the engine, a cool feature. But the engine underneath isn't of the highest detail, but still a very cool feature. Before going to the conlusion I have to show you the extra this model has, which is an extra roof option, although it doesn't close properly it's still nice.
So, conclusion time. This model is not something everyone likes, but at the prices you can get em today, you can't not get em. Details are mediocre, colour is nice, interior is great and the opening 'enginebay' is a fun little add.
