The Citroën ZX 16V is a car almost everyone forgot about. But back in the day everyone took another look when you passed by.
The 16V named after it's 16 valves, was the most powerful version of the ZX you could get, at a total of 167bhp this was a real hot hatch. But it took some time before it got here.. The French were looking for a way to fight against Volkswagen's GTI, so the French made a ZX Volcane but the 130 horsepowers weren't enough. In 1993 the first 16V was released with a 2 liter engine pushing the power up to 150. It still wasn't a real hot hatch, so finally in 1996 the French made the second version of the 16V, a 2.0 liter engine pushing the engine up to 167bhp, all it needed to be called a hot hatch. The engine was big enough to push the 1170 kg (2579 lb) to 100 kph (62 mph) in just 8,5 seconds. It's topspeed layed at 219 kph (137 mph).

The model in front of us today is made by French model manufacturer OttoMobile in scale 1:18.
Back in 2011 they already released a ZX 16V in blue (limited to 2000 pcs) but this year Otto made a re-release in red.
This red model comes at a price of €59,95, but most retailers sell the at around €80+.
The re-release red model is limited to just 1500 pcs.
Is it any good?........

This ZX comes in a white box with Otto branding, opening that up you're seeing a styrofoam box containing the model. If you would like to take a look at a bit of the unboxing check out my video of this model.
As always we're starting of this review by taking a look at the front of this model. And I must say, for this price the normal lights and fog lights are beautifully done. In the middle of the light we can see a little plastic bulb. The chrome bulb surround is covered by a textured plastic cover, which gives an extra touch. I really like the black dots on the sides of the fog light, lovely little touch.
Just like the real car they implemented the emblem inside of the grill. The black grills are closed but I don't see that as a problem, because on the real car it's just a hole which would look weird on a resin model.

Next up we're moving over to the sporty side of this model. This car might not be everyone's taste, but I gotta say it looks pretty cool.
So the side profile. The proportions are exactly 18 times smaller them the real model. The wheels are crisp and feel very solid, the brake discs are made out of thin metal with a little well detailed brake calliper. I also like Otto gave this car lug nuts, which are coloured in a darker grey material. The tyres have a nice and realsitic feel to them. I would've liked to see the side indicator being a plastic piece, instead of this painted orange indicator. I do really like the metal etched 16V script, top job there. The black window outline is crisp even allround the model. The mirror is made in 2 tone black and red, and unlike some more expensive models it doesn't have overspray on it.

Next up is the rear of the model. All body lines are nice and deeply ingraved into the body, giving the model some added realism. The lights are in a two tone orange-ish red colour, just like on the front they are beautifully made out of little bulbs covered in textured clear plastic. Again just like the 16V the Citroën ZX badge is metal etched, top job. I must give another compliment to Otto for giving you an extra waterslide metal etched decal of the Citoën ZX emblem, incase the one on the model gets damaged they supply you with another one. They made a real good looking exhaust out of plastic, covered in chrome with a black inside. As far as the underside goes, there's not a lot just the exhaust and for the rest it's mostly a flat black resin piece.
Last but not least, the interior. You might have seen that I supplied myself with a picture from Otto, the windows of my example were a little wobbly and I'm still learning to make pictures of a resin interior. So the interior, it's in a bit of a boring grey if you ask me, black would've been better but that's just a personal taste. But the details are defenitly there. Not a single detail has been missed, but I would've liked to see a little more colour variation on the dashboard. The gages are a nice and crisp decal, and I like the seat decals, gives you those 90's vibes. The seatbuckles on the otherhand do have some red colour to it, looking good. I also like the decals on the shiftknob. So overall the interior is pretty good.
Conclusion time, but this time in a new style, mentioning the pros and cons of this model.
